Landed Learning Students Inspire Community to Care for Pollinators Through START Project

About 75% of all flowering plant species need the help of animals to move their heavy pollen grains from plant to plant for fertilization. Bees, butterflies, beetles, birds and bats are among some of the important pollinators who keep plants reproducing in our world, but many of these species are at risk from disease, pesticide use, changing climate, and loss of habitat. The beautiful art work of Landed Learning students and students involved in the Edible Garden Project in North Van have come together under the leadership of Thanushi Eagalle to teach the community about the importance of pollinators and how we can protect them through START (Science to Art). Their exhibit opens tonight, June 22, at the ArtStarts Gallery (808 Richards Street).
